In a private presentation, Western Fortunes honoured a legend in the sport of barrel racing, Bill Robinson.
Horses are in Bill’s DNA with his father bringing the first registered Quarter Horse stallion to Canada in 1957.
Bill purchased his first colt at 18-years old, competed in team roping and started raising horses at that time. In 1975 Wildwood Ranches was established in Okanagan Falls, BC with his wife, Heidi. Jet Of Honor (Leading Barrel Racing Sire with Offspring LTE $1,827,469+), was among the 12 broodmares, 10 foals and 2 stallions.
Decades later and honoured by the AQHA for 50 years of Breeding American Quarter Horses his legacy continues through his newest stallion, Guys Casanova Cowboy with his wife Heidi, son Shawn and daughter Crystal picking up the reins.
Today, Bill is known for his wealth of horse knowledge, superbly bred barrel racing horses and as a breeder. He and his wife, Heidi are great supporters of the industry and were instrumental in starting The Glow’s Bill Robinson Memorial Barrel Racing Futurity & Derby.
Bill’s bigger than life personality, smile, generosity and stories will be missed by all who knew him.
Western Fortunes is proud to have Bill Robinson as the first person named as a Western Fortunes Legend.
